Family & Caregivers
Family Resources
The compassionate care provided by ERCC staff doesn't end on the day of discharge. Social workers and other care team members connect patients and family members with appropriate resources for after-care treatment.
These connections might include Senior Center programs, home health agencies, places to find financial assistance, ways to make handicapped-accessible accommodations, psychosocial resources or any other resource that will make home life easier.
Support Groups
Regardless of the circumstances that lead to someone's stay at ERCC, social networking is an important part of coping with change. Whether someone needs assistance coping with the effects of memory loss, grief counseling or any other situation, our staff will help connect residents and family members with the appropriate resource.
Resident Council
Once a month, residents are invited to participate in ERCC's Resident Council meeting, an opportunity to voice concerns, ask questions, make suggestions or hand out compliments. Administrators participate personally and frequently take action based on residents' suggestions.
Members of every department attend, addressing day-to-day issues as well as special topics such as plans for holiday parties or meals. Residents select the group's officers, including a president, vice president, secretary and delegate from each side of the facility (peach and blue).
Family Council
ERCC encourages family members to be actively involved in the care of their loved ones. Of course the doors are always open if there's a question, but at least once every three months "Family Council" gatherings provide a structured opportunity to talk to staff members from a variety of disciplines.
The quarterly meetings also include a presentation on a topic selected by family members, including subjects such as diet, hospice care, and rehabilitation options. Primary family contacts are informed about the meetings in writing, but they're open to all interested parties and all members of the family are encouraged to attend.
Residents do not attend Family Council meetings, although they do have the opportunity to attend special Resident Council gatherings. Each Family Council session concludes with a question/comment period, with staff and administrators available to discuss whatever topics family members choose.
