ERCC medical director a familiar face
ELKINS, W.Va. – Dr. David Currence already knew about the compassionate care provided by ERCC, so it was an easy decision when he was asked to serve as medical director.
“I’ve had patients who were residents at ERCC ever since I finished residency in 1997,” the family physician said. “I’ve always been happy with the care they received there. I’m really glad to be a part of ERCC.”
Dr. Currence, a private practice family physician with privileges at Davis Memorial Hospital, started his new role in the fall. He has been very impressed with the care provided to long- and short-term residents.
As ERCC medical director, Dr. Currence is not in charge of patients’ individual care. Rather, he monitors overall care and looks for trends among the residents’ conditions and overall health at the long-term care and rehabilitation facility on Beverly Pike.
“Dr. Currence is an excellent addition and we’re pleased to have him as medical director,” said Denise Campbell, ERCC administrator. “He fits perfectly with our staff’s commitment to compassionate care.”
Dr. Currence grew up in Randolph County, and his family still lives here. He received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College and attended medical school at West Virginia University.
“I have had family members stay at ERCC, and I’ve always been impressed with the compassionate care provided by employees of the facility,” Dr. Currence said. “It’s an honor to be affiliated with them.”
Currence is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and boarded in family practice. In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors and gardening. For more information about ERCC or to schedule a visit or a tour, call 304-636-1391.
