ERCC names Denise Campbell administrator
ELKINS, W.Va. – Denise Campbell, assistant administrator at ERCC for more than five years, is the new administrator of the long-term care and rehabilitation facility in Randolph County.
ERCC’s Board of Directors named Campbell to the post effective March 17.
“Denise is a perfect fit to help move ERCC forward,” said Gary Schoonover, chairman of the board. “We’re excited to have her move into this new role and look forward to the leadership she will bring.”
Campbell had served as assistant administrator since 2005. Prior to that, she worked at ERCC as the assistant director of nursing and director of compliance from 1996-2001.
“I’m very proud of the work we have done at ERCC over the years, and I know our team will continue to provide high-quality, compassionate care to our short-term and long-term residents as well as our outpatient rehabilitation clients,” Campbell said. “As the population ages, we know more people will need to take advantage of our various services, and we pledge to take great care of local residents in their home community.”
ERCC will be the host of an Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 31. The event will give the community a chance to greet Campbell and other members of the ERCC staff as well as see some of the many other changes taking place at the facility on the Beverly Five Lane.
Campbell is a graduate of Elkins High School and holds an associate's degree in nursing from Davis & Elkins College and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi. She completed her master's degree in administration at Marshall University.
Many people know Campbell as Randolph County’s newest legislative representative. She recently completed her first session as a member of the House of Delegates, but that’s just one aspect of her public service.
She is a member of the board of the West Virginia Health Care Association, which advocates for long-term care facilities at the state level, the Davis Health System Foundation board of directors, and the board of Appalachian Community Health Center. Before being elected as a delegate, Campbell also served on the West Virginia Center for Nursing board of directors and as an advisory board member to the Governor’s Office of Health Enhancement and Lifestyle Planning.
Campbell said ERCC is making a point of creating a home-like setting.
“We’ve renovated our rooms and common areas to create a more pleasant environment,” she said. “Whether for a few weeks, a few months or longer, we understand ERCC is home to its residents, and we want the atmosphere to be comfortable, welcoming and inviting.”
Campbell is married to Ric Campbell, who is an employee of Davis Memorial Hospital. She has two sons, Lance, a senior at West Virginia University, and Logan, a second-grader at Third Ward Elementary School.
She replaces Ron LaNeve, who retired Sept. 30. Dan Bucher served as interim administrator while Campbell served in the 2011 Legislature.
