ERCC names Watson as director of nursing
December 17, 2010
The Elkins Regional Convalescent Center has named Dixie Watson as its director of nursing. Watson started her new position in early November.
The Randolph County resident formerly worked at ERCC as its director of staff development before working at other long-term care facilities in the region. Watson is happy to be "home" again, however.
"I've always said I want to experience everything at least once in life," Watson said. "I've had some great experiences and worked with some wonderful people. But this is home, and I'm happy to be home."
During her first stint at ERCC, Watson taught CNA classes, helped develop a calendar for continuing education and coordinated other training for nurses and CNAs. In her new role, she will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing all nurses and related personnel.
"We're thrilled to have Dixie rejoin our staff," said Denise Campbell, ERCC's interim administrator. "Her knowledge and experience will be a real plus as we move forward."
Watson said one of her primary goals is to help ERCC achieve a five-star rating, but she also understands the mission of ERCC, which includes long-term care, short-term rehabilitation stays and outpatient physical therapy.
"Our residents are the reason we have jobs, and they're absolutely the No. 1 priority," Watson said. "This has always been a good facility, and we're on our way to great things."
Watson lives outside of Elkins with her husband, Kenny. She has three children, Heather Perando, Jaime Schmidt and Jim Schmidt.
