ELKINS — Two Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center residents will reign as Valentine’s Day King and Queen for the coming year following a celebration at the facility.

Residents, staff members, and visitors voted to crown Ruth Brinker as Valentine’s Day Queen and Robert Johnson as Valentine’s Day King during the event. Both received candy, stuffed animals, flowers, and other gifts to commemorate their coronation.

“We really like to have fun at ERCC,” said Tara Shaver, administrator.

Shaver noted that residents, visitors, and staff like to gather for events on numerous occasions.

“We’re one big family here,” she added. “So, we like to get together a lot so everyone can enjoy that fellowship.”

Residents, staff members, and visitors attending the event were treated to a baked steak dinner with dessert while serenaded by music provided by the Upshur County Community Orchestra.
